I’ve only got a few minutes so here’s the short version:
Managed care sucks! Mom is too well to stay in the hospital, but not well enough to go to the rehab. The docs answer? Put her in a nursing home. Our answer? Like HELL! Now, we have until Monday to get the house practically rebuilt! Damn it all! I’ll be back soon.
Like HELL is right!! Fucking insurance companies rule the world, and I fear nobody will ever come up with a way to get them under control ;(

OH goodness! This is awful! Hope you all able to get everything done in time. Still praying.
MAN! That sucks! We had to put my mom is a nursing home, twice. We did not love it one bit! We were lucky and got two very nice homes for her. Then again, she was left there by herself for only hours. My dad or one of us girls would sit there with her and help with rehab if necessary to get her to the next level. We didn’t love the idea, but we didn’t really have any other choice. I’m glad you are able to make a different choice. Good luck this weekend! I’m praying for you guys!

My mom had private insurance, but was in the same boat. Because she had a broken pelvis and was not ambulatory, I had no choice but the nursing home (didn’t trust home health care). Hang in there, it’ll all work out.
